Lefkada is the only Greek island which can be visited by car without ferry boat fares by using the floating bridge connecting the island to the mainland. The national bus company - KTEL - offers a number of daily services to and from Athens - the journey takes 5 hours and is 378 km. Twice daily bus services to and from Thessalonika are also available, the journey is 7 hours and covers 420 km.
